Sgt. Don Mather, SRT Marksman, Georgetown Police Dept
“We conducted tests with five loads from three manufacturers and found the Silver State loads were head and shoulders above the rest. Accuracy was within .78 MOA with the 110 grain Soft point and .89 MOA with the Mil / LE load. The 110 Soft point exhibited good penetration with practically no deflection through vehicle windshields. An additional bonus was that the aiming point for both rounds is nearly identical eliminating the need for adjustments when changing rounds.Silver State ammo has exceeded all our expectations.”
David M. Hall, OHIO Bureau of Criminal Investigation
“The commitment to excellence of the team at Silver State Armory is seen in the quality and reliability of their product. I have fired hundreds of rounds of SSA 6.8mm SPC and have never had a failure to feed or fire due to the ammunition. I encourage any individual or agency to consider Silver State Armory in the selection of their ammunition needs. I believe you will be pleased with the cost and reliability of the ammunition offered by Silver State Armory.”
6.8 and 115 grainers
This was a great "learning experience" I got from the first three rounds out of my new 6.8 rifle.
While I was loading some SSA brass at home over the Thanksgiving holiday, Michelle saw this buck coming across the hill "in back of our home" (front yard?). I loaded the charges I had measured and pressed in some 130 grain bullets. I racked one in and took the shot. He started to run and I thought "maybe I missed?" I took the next shot and he kept running. I took the third and he face-planted. Only after coming up to him did I find that I had landed all three shots, two of them right on, one a little further back, but none of them mushroomed. I turns out that the 130 grainers that I loaded won't mushroom unless they are going 2800fps+. Now I use the Sierra Pro Hunter 110gr soft point and it has transformed my 6.8 into a GREAT hunting rifle. Ryan

Kelsey's 7th Deer
Here’s Kelsey’s latest acquisition…The 15 year old and her 7th deer. All with one shot drops. It is an 11 Pt. Whitetail, Edwards County, TX, 18 Yard Shot (no joke), LMT MRP 18” Barrel, JP Trigger, Leupold MR/T 1.5X5, LaRue SPR mount, Silver State 110gr. 6.8 (Barnes Triple Shock). The buck came in at 100 yards and never presented a side shot…he walked straight toward us and got within twenty yards and turned broadside. She dropped him like a bad habit. Rory

1/2" Groups with SSA Ammo
We went hunting on Friday. I had built three 6.8 uppers for my three sons. Three of us came home with nothing, while my youngest (20 years old) got two, one a 100 lb. buck (that 's about average for this area) and the other a small button buck. Both of them went down like a hammer hit them. We were using your Pro Hunters right out of the box. I also managed to shoot my first 1/2" group with your commercial OTM loads, picture attached. Tim

550lb Cow Elk
… I go elk hunting every year in S. CO with some of my buds from the FAL Files & this year I took a 6.8. We hunt for cow elk as the tag prices are cheaper than bulls & you can't eat horns. Given the experience gained from the last 3 hunting seasons, I stalked up to a place where I thought there might be elk & I was rewarded with a clean kill on a 550lb cow elk at 45yds. First shot broke her spine & when she dropped, she raised her neck up & I took the opportunity to place a second insurance shot through the neck to make sure she was dead right there & spare any suffering….
Art at SSA is THE man! Ammo performed perfectly, was one hole accurate @100yds & did the deed on this animal. The aim of every hunter should be a quick, decisive kill with as little suffering as possible. The combination of the SSA ammo & our LWRC piston AR gave me the chance to do just that.

3 Shots – 3 Caribou
On a recent hunt by three 68forums.com members, three caribou were taken with SSA ammo and an AR chambered in 6.8. The longest shot was 158 yards and all three dropped in their tracks. The round used was our 115 grain OTM MIL/LE with enhanced fragmentation. There was a small entrance and exit hole, however, during field dressing they noticed massive internal damage that stopped the caribou bulls in their tracks. A writer was along on the trip and he will be doing an article on the hunt. The writer had no idea a 6.8 could have such stopping power from an AR. They fragmented and caused massive internal damage as designed to do. All the bulls weighed between 300 to 400 pounds. Art-SSA

Love those Match Kings
The yellow target is on the 31 yard indoor range and the brown is 110 yards outdoors. Dave

SSA 110gr Pro-Hunters
It was a standing, offhand shot at 125 yds.. Right quartering facing shot... hit it very low on the sternum,.. Really not a very good shot by me... gutted it and broke the back leg... Deer ran about 350 yards through heavy brush then died. I didn't realize it had been hit until I came up on where I hit it and found a 4 foot heavy spread of acorn cud. I tracked it for about 50 yards, then went over to my buddy's camper that I'm staying at and got him and his 2 Labradors to track.
The bullet far outperformed the shooter. The damage was severe and extensive and would have been an instant kill if I'd hit the deer about 2" higher. I don't think a .308 would have been much more effective if it hit the same spot. Shot placement is so important... as it stands, there was almost no damage to the meat. Image-wise, the shot looked very similar to that raccoon post that is around with half its guts hanging out.
Spent the afternoon shooting my rifle... consistent 3/4 to 1" groups with SSA Pro-Hunter. Sadly I only seem to be getting about 1.5-2" groups with the HSM V-Max, though of a 5 shot group, my buddy did place 3 into an inch then tossed 2 others wildly about 2" around the group. Definitely getting significantly different groups with the HSM V-max and the SSA Pro-Hunter, both in terms of group size and position.
The HSM V-Max always seems to have bent necks when I shoot it, while the SSA ejects cleanly and typically about a foot further. Disco
